Dans le cadre du projet ‘Arts et Mémoire’ dédié au soutien et la préservation de la mémoire du génocide perpétré contre les Tutsi au Rwanda en 1994 a travers les arts ; Ishyo Arts Centre a débuté un sous-projet intitulé ‘We call it love’ (Nous l’appelons l’amour) en trois volets : la pièce de théâtre We call it love, le livre d’essais sur la relation entre les arts et la mémoire au Rwanda durant les deux dernières décennies et la cathédrale sonore comportant des sons et voix des bons souvenirs des rwandais de ceux et celles morts durant le génocide perpétré contre les Tutsi au Rwanda en 1994 et durant d’autres périodes de discrimination qu’ils ont traversé bien avant 1994.
Pour pouvoir collecter ces sons, voix, messages de bons souvenirs, Ishyo a ouvert une hotline ‘3740’ ou toute personne utilisant le réseau MTN peut appeler et laisser un message d’une minute, d’un bon souvenir du sien ou des siens morts durant le génocide des Tutsi et ces autres périodes de discrimination. Cette cathédrale sera aussi ambulante et fera le tour du pays en 2016 et sera accompagnée de compositions musicales par différents chanteurs rwandais, des gens pourront entrer dans cette cathédrale et écouteront ces bons souvenirs qui sont aussi des témoignages partagés par les rwandais. A la fin de la tournée, cette cathédrale sera installée définitivement dans un endroit ou elle sera visitée régulièrement et ou ce sera possible d’enregistrer son message de souvenir, de propre gré.
Se souvenir d’eux en bien souligne et renforce la prise de conscience d’aller de l’avant, de ne pas sombrer dans la tristesse et de leur redonner vie et dignité en tant qu’ humains, rwandais et ceux qui aimaient et qui étaient aimés, ceux qui ont laissé des belles traces, qui ont eu des impacts positifs, qui ont laisse la lumière de ces bons souvenirs dans les vies des leurs et de la société rwandaise.

‘Arts and Memory’ is a project of Ishyo Arts Centre in collaboration with Rwanda Professional Dreamers, Groupov and Kemit asbl , in 2014. Its main objective is to support and encourage the preservation of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, to promote the individual memory together with the collective one, of all the Rwandans. Within this project Ishyo is working on an initiative ‘We call it love’, which is in three parts, the first one is a theatre ‘We call it love’ on unity and reconciliation. The second one is the cathedral of sounds, a mobile construction with good memories in sounds of the ones who died during the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda and other eras of discrimination that they faced before 1994. The last one is a book of essays about the relationship between Arts and memory I Rwanda for the last two decades.
To be able to collect these sounds and voices of good memories for the cathedral of sounds, Ishyo opened a hotline 3740 where anyone who uses the MTN line can call and leave a one minute message of a good memory of those you lost (family, friends, neighbors, colleagues etc) during the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda or the prior eras of discrimination against them.
These messages will be in the cathedral of sounds and will be accompanied by musical compositions by different Rwandan artists. It will tour the country in 2016 and people will be able to enter it and listen to all those shared memories of lives that were once good. At the end of the tour, it will be installed in one place and will be visited regularly and those who want, will continuously record their memories within this cathedral.
Remembering them through the good is a way of keeping the ones who died alive, to try and with effort let go sadness, to give them back their dignity, to emphasize that they were great, did good with their lives, hoped for good, that they loved and were loved and appreciated and most of all that they are always remembered, individually as humans, Rwandans and those who shared something good with theirs and the Rwandan society.
